ABOUT US

As OSIL’s director, I want to thank all our supporters, partners, and donors for helping us from our inception in 1997 to date. OSIL recognizes the importance of delivering timely humanitarian landmine Clearance assistance to south Sudan’s 8.5 Million men, women and children and the key role that you, our supporters have had and continue to have in this work.

As outlined in the website, our mission is to save lives and limb through the establishment and implementation of Mine Action programs in South Sudan. We are dedicated to working for a Sudan that is free of landmines and Exploded Remnants of War.

Our strategy in realizing this mission has been a multifaceted one, tying in our commitment to transparency and accountability, our adherence to globally recognized standards of procedure (SOPs) and our passion and dedication to assisting the people of Sudan live normal lives.

We are proud and happy that as South Sudan’s national mine action organization, we are actively facilitating South Sudan’s socio-economic development through our demining operations. In addition, our programs keenly promote community and national ownership of Humanitarian Mine Action. By training and deploying both men and women, we aim to not only develop local mine clearing capacity but also maximize communities self-reliance and broaden their skill base. In addition to new complementary skills, our recruits earn a pay package that is compliant to Sudan’s Mine Action Human Resource Policy and United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) Deminers Salary Scales.

Thank you for helping ensure that OSIL’s vital humanitarian programs continue to improve lives in South Sudan. Your continued contributions and support are deeply appreciated, as an estimated 2 Million landmines still lie unidentified and potentially lethal.
