Emergency Landmine Clearance

 

[3 years duration]

 

An estimated 1.3 Million South Sudanese people [Upper Nile Residents and Returnees]

 

§          Reduce the number of fatalities caused by mines in Upper Nile.

§          Promote Local Community ownership of mine clearance and awareness operations.

§          Support the Government of South Sudan in adhering to the Deed of Commitment, which advocates for a total ban on stockpiling and use of landmines.

§          Free up landmine contaminated ground for redevelopment.

 

 

OSIL in partnership with CAMEO

and MAG.

 

Mine Risk Education

 

[3 years duration]

 

An estimated 686,000 people in East Equatoria & an unspecified no. of North Ugandan Refugees.

 

§          Recruit and train Mine Risk Education personnel to ensure a local community response and management of humanitarian mine operations.

§          Liaise with local authorities and community leaders for creation of MRE committees who will form a reporting link with OSIL’s mine action program on the presence and impact of landmines.

Institutional Capacity Building

[3 years duration]

 

Head Office and Field Staff of Operation Save Innocent Lives. 

 

§          Achieve the strategic relocation of OSIL’s head office to Juba so as to place the organization at the center of Humanitarian Mine Action activities.

§          Establish stronger networks and develop cooperation with South Sudan based local and international (HMA) agencies.
