Money Facts!

Your donations and contributions have enabled us to:

·          Detect and destroy 751 anti tank mines, more than 125,000 UXOs and 3,626 anti personnel mines. Our projects have opened up inaccessible areas to economic development and occupancy in the highly contaminated states of Equatoria, Bahr El Ghazal & Upper Nile.

·          Demine more than 2,500 km of roads and cleared more than 1,050 hectares of land. OSIL has demined major roads, linking key economic hotspots and with heavy commuter movement. In addition, OSIL’s landmine survey, clearance and stockpile destruction operations have facilitated agricultural as well as light industrial activities in the demined regions.

·          Train 36 mine risk education instructors and 70 de-miners to international United Nations. Out of over 100 deminers training with OSIL’s 70, the best medic students and overall best deminers were from OSIL. The students left with specialized demining and medical equipment.

·          Establish Humanitarian Mine Action Committees in over 10 counties including Yei, Kajo Keji, Juba, Gogrial, Magwi, Mundri and Maridi. The HMACs are comprised of local NGOs, community, civil society and church members. OSIL works with the HMACs to exchange information on the presence and impact of mines, and to create a reporting link with the mine action programme, developing risk-reduction strategies.
