PROM-1
Antipersonnel Mine

Description
The PROM-1 is a bounding fragmentation antipersonnel mine, which normally utilizes a dual pressure/tension (radial pull) fuze. The UPROM-1 and UPMR-3 are the fuzes normally associated with this mine. A pyrotechnic element delays upward ejection and detonation by 1 to 2 seconds. The design intent of this delay is to ensure that any potential target which functioned the fuze would be clear of the upward ejection path, ensuring a clean, omni-directional fragmentation pattern. The height burst is determined by an anchor landyard set to release a cocked striker at approzimately 0.7 meter.
